Is anybody out there?

"One generation passeth away, and another generation cometh; but the earth abideth forever . . . The sun also ariseth, and the sun goeth down, and hasteth to the place where he arose . . . The wind goeth toward the south, and turneth about unto the north; it whirleth about continually, and the wind returneth again according to his circuits . . . All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full; unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again."

                                                         - Ecclesiastes

That's like the most comforting thing I've ever read.

Well well..

I'm not sure exactly why I'm posting today of all days. I've certainly had the time to post...I guess I've just had a tough time figuring out a reason to post. Hmm...maybe the time of xanga is just coming to a close for me. I feel kinda bad about that, though, because the only reason I started doing this is so I could look back on it later in my life and actually remember what I did from day to day, unlike earlier periods in my life where I can hardly even remember big events. I guess there's my reason.

So, with that in mind...here's a very lame attempt at summing up my life since my last post:

  • Wow, I just checked, and my last entry was when Mariella just arrived. For some reason I thought I'd updated since then...I'm not sure I have the energy to recollect her entire stay here, but all I can say is that it was an amazing time and, well...I'm very very happy with her! She's been gone for 5 weeks now and I wont see her for another 5...it sucks, but I try to not let myself get down, because how lucky am I to have someone to miss this much?
  • The day after Mariella left I started work. Work has pretty much destroyed most of my ambitions for this summer. I work 11 hours a day, 55 hours a week, for Swingen Construction. I'm tired all the time and only have about 4 hours of free time each day before I must sleep again. And as of this wednesday I'll only have 3 hours of free time since I must sleep a half an hour earlier than before, and get home a half an hour later. Now, Im not --complaining-- , persay, because I chose this, and the money is amazing, and Im gonna be very happy when it's over...I'd just call it shameless bitching. I'm gonna put a big chunk of this money in a savings account when the summer is over and use it for a trip next summer to Norway, Denmark, and Greece. So yeah, cant exactly bitch about that!
  • Besides Mariella being here, and work, the summer's just been about hanging out. There's been numerous trips to the 7 Clans casino, which have all been fun. There's been a few LAN parties, which have also been fun. Other than that, it's the usual sitting around and chatting, which is also appreciated. Anything other than work is nice. There's also been many nights where I get home from work and just sit around and relax...I usually fill those nights with TV (Daily Show and Colbert Report), reading Norwegian books/websites, and Xbox 360.
  • Oh, and I forgot about lake trips! We've made one trip out to Paulson's lake, and one trip out to mine. Actually, they were in the same weekend. But that was fun...I believe that weekend also included a casino trip.
  • So, upon writing this entry, I must conclude that the summer's been quite good so far. Work has consumed about 70% of my time, but the remaining 30% has been well-spent, I would say. The days to come will hopefully include more of the same, and more of the..not-same? Either way, life is good, Mariella comes back in 5 weeks, I'll move into my house, school will start, and life should then become even gooder. Englishness is baddening.
Alright, well, there's my entry. I write this from a coffee shop in Bemidji, which I've used to call Mariella with Skype this weekend. It's quite the cool little joint, and I'm in a good mood right now . I hope everyone else is having a decent summer! Adios.

Excitement!!

!!!!

!

Finally! There's so much to be excited about right now, I can hardly keep a thought in my head for more than 5 seconds...Mariella is here!!! I picked her up at the Minneapolis airport today and we arrived in Grand Forks at 10:00ish...she just went to bed now, after being up for almost 35 hours straight...it's so awesome to have her here though!! It's gonna take a while to adjust to the fact that this girl who has only existed in my Norway-world now exists in my life in America too. I've missed her tons...long-distance is tough, especially when the distance spans an ocean...but I'm really lucky to have her here right now. Anyway, the next two and a half weeks are going to be amazing, there's a lot of stuff planned.

I guess the other big thing is that IT'S SUMMER!! True, it's been 40 degrees and raining for the past week and a half, but more important than the weather is the fact that I'm done with NDSU...and I mean DONE. That feels good. Also, I'll *knock on wood* never work at a dining center again, which also feels good. This summer should be a most excellent one, for many reasons.

Hmm...I know there's more to say, but I spent almost 11 hours driving today on 4 hours of sleep, so I'm just goddamn beat. *To be continued, as always..*
